Art Festival Award Winners

September 13, 2017

Congratulations to the Forreston arts students who participated in the 69th annual Grand Detour Art Festival student show. This year marked the first time Forreston students participated. The event was held at the John Deere Historic Site on September 10th. Several students won awards: Hailey Greenfield won Honorable mention in the 4-6th grade category for her weaving. Madison Sketo won Honorable mention in the 7-8th grade category for her painting. Rachel Metzger won Third place in the High School category for her clay sculpture of popcorn. Kaitlyn Maiteka won First place in the High School category for her pencil drawing, as well as winning Best of Show. As always it is exciting to see our students excel and we are proud of their accomplishments!

2.  Kaitlyn Maiteka's drawing Shaun Mendes won first place in the High School age category as well as overall Best of Show.
3.  Rachel Metzger's Popcorn, a ceramic box, won third place in the High School category.
4.  Hailey Greenfield's Weaving of Color won Honorable mention.
5.  Madison Sketo's painting, The Inside, won Honorable mention.
