Forrestville Valley Announces the Retirement of Kathie Conerton

The culminating event of the annual End of the Year Breakfast was the announcement of long time English Teacher/Librarian Ms. Kathie Conterton.  Ms. Conerton will retire form teaching at Forrestville Valley after 40 years in the profession.  She began teaching 8th grade Language Arts at Forreston Jr. High School in the 1970-71 school year.  She took a seven-year hiatus after her son was born on the last day of school during the 1979-80 school year.  Ms. Conerton was asked to return to the district by long time Superintendent Ted Gapinski after an unexpected resignation 2 weeks before the school year began in 1987.

Ms. Conerton has served the District as a Librarian, HS Yearbook Advisor, Junior High Language Arts Teacher, and High School English Teacher.  Her care and ability to reach all of her students has been an example to all of the staff at Forreston Jr/Sr High School for many years.

Superintendent Sheri Smith commented, "Ms. Conterton will be missed greatly.  During her 40 years of teaching, she has been able to make a positive impact on over a thousand students.  That impact can be seen throughout our District and for that we are grateful.  We wish her nothing but the best of luck as she embarks on a new adventure."

Ms. Conerton lives in rural Leaf River.
