Classroom Spotlight for Week of December 19th - Mr. Schurr, Physical Education, FJH

The JH Physical Education Program has taken on a new look for its' curriculum this school year.  Every Wednesday, students report to room #320 to study Health and Life concepts and the effects on everyday living.  This will help to have a better understanding of the body physically, mentally and socially.  The other four days of the week the students are active in the gymnasium developing lifetime skills through individual and team sports and the values of teamwork through cooperative play.  The objective learned on Wednesday in the health class are provided and applied through the activities.  The students are learning to self monitor their fitness levels through pedometers and discovering various ways to exercise through different styles.  Team building and cooperative play are encouraged and discovered through challenges of team sports and curriculum lessons such as "Adventure island".  Overall, students are encouraged to have fun and learn by doing along with staying healthy for a lifetime.
