Classroom Spotlight for Week of January 30th - Mr. Hanley, Math FHS

This month in Mr. Hanley’s Geometry/Trig class, students began their miniature golf projects.  For the project, students will create a scale drawing as well as a physical model.  Students will figure out the path and angles of real objects for a hole in one.  Students are required to show the path to make a hole in one using three and four bounces.  Students will then use their scale drawing to create their physical model.  The model is required to be playable and we will spend a class period examining each hole and playing it on the due date of February 21st.   I have done this project for four years with my Geometry/Trig classes.  Each year the projects are tremendous and I am excited to see this year’s class.

In Pre-Calculus we are beginning our study of the unit circle in degrees and radians.   In a few weeks we will begin to prepare for the SAT and ACT tests.  In Geometry we are continuing our study of triangles and we just finished with similar triangles.  In our next unit we will explore many different relationships within triangles.
