Classroom Spotlight for Week of October 3rd - Ms. Genandt, 1st Grade GVGS

Ms. Genandt's 1st grade classroom had a fun and exciting last week of September. The students learned about John Chapman, also known as Johnny Appleseed, and how he helped others by planting apple seeds to make apple trees so people could enjoy the delicious apples. The students learned about apples and about different foods that can be made from apples. The students had the opportunity to have a hands on approach at making applesauce. The students enjoyed seeing and smelling the apples while they were cooking and being able to help with making the applesauce. The students enjoyed tasting the applesauce after it was made.

The students have enjoyed learning reading strategies and practicing them while reading with a partner. They are looking forward to learning more strategies, and seeing what other exciting things first grade has in store for the school year.
