Classroom Spotlight for Week of October 3rd - Mrs. Dana Russell-Brown, FJH/FHS Art

Our art classroom has been extremely busy this year already. After starting off with Still Life drawings, students got dirty creating different projects with clay. So many students love working with clay and they relish the opportunity to create using this medium. Our Jr High students created different projects including whimsical fish, Mimbres bowls and monster mugs. Our High School students researched textures and created a functional piece of pottery including their texture ideas onto the surface of the clay. Upperclassmen were given the opportunity to design their own clay project.

Once the students created their pieces of pottery they were bisc fired and ready to glaze. In these pictures, several students are working on adding glaze to their pottery. They are very excited to see how they will turn out once they are fired again!
